Pernell Whitaker vs Julio 'Cesar' Chaves

Possibly The Worst Robbery In Boxing History

Here's the comment section...

Humans like to talk about things.

  • I respectively disagree with your analysis…I also thought it was a draw. Both fighters had good rounds and both deserve much respect…

  • Can someone please explain the following to me…Thanks!

In this old Whitaker/Chavez fight, the score was 115 to 113 for Whitaker and 119 to 119 by the two other judges, and the fight was declared A DRAW!!!
Now, in the last or most recent Pacquiao vs Once-Upon-a-Time K. Thurman — since he lost — the score was 115 to 110 Thurman, and the other two scores were 113 to 113 — same type of scoring — so, can someone please explain to me WHY it is that that fight was NOT declared A DRAW as in the Whitaker/Chavez fight, but Pacquiao was declared the winner…I don’t understand, so again…can someone please explain?

  • May he Rest In Peace. But honestly I never really was impressed by his style. If you rewatch the fight you’ll see he got away with so many low blows. I always thought that it was done intentionally. Also the ringside commentators influence how you see the fight. In instances like these, watch the fight with the sound off. Perhaps you may see a different fight.
