Apparently they don’t become crippled, so I imagine there is a right way and wrong way to train one’s self. The same as if one is developing tough knuckles and hands. Some take a gradual approach while others just beat them to Hell and as I’ve herad they destroy bones and nerves.
Amazing how much they put into those leg kicks. I also think having shorter legs, or being short in general will have advantages here. Guys with long heavy legs just can’t whip it out that quick and recover that quick (when they miss).

that, this sport
is a most brutal extreme ulitmate sport
and, martial arts teachers should remember,
to explain to students , that such situation should never occur,
also, the injuries of ankle are terrible
