Accomplish something BIG...

Starting Today.

A few weeks ago, after a particularly tough month, I sent out some motivational clips that help me get through the challenging days.

(These included Shia Lebouf scream-inspiring you to turn your dreams into reality).

I received a CASCADE of inspirational responses in return. (This speech given by Arnold Schwarzenegger was by far my favorite. It's the most powerful speech I've ever heard).

Since that email two weeks ago, I hold my head a little higher.

And I don't mean that as a stupid metaphor.

I actually improved my posture after years of procrastination.

My head is literally held a greater distance from the ground now. Boom. I'm taller.

I've also lost 5 pounds, my endurance is back, AND I've even been a better Dad to my teeny ones.

Quite simply, I was inspired to be a 'better' person. So, here's what I did:

1) I identified several realms of my life in which I wanted to improve.
2) I listed one or two immediate steps that I could take, in order to make the desired improvement.
3) I FORCED myself to take these steps, EVERY DAY, since making my commitment.

That's it.

It's been ridiculously easy. You just have to do it.

(JUST DO IT!!!!)

So, let's make this "Accomplish Stuff" month... here at Fight Smart.

PICK ONE THING, that you want to improve.

Just one.

And let's get to work.

Start with one small success, and soon everything will be within your reach.

If you do nothing, Arnold will be disappointed with you... so please, REMEMBER THESE WORDS, and play them the moment you begin to doubt yourself.

Play them the moment you say to yourself, "Meh... I'll just skip today."

Play them as soon as you say, "I'll just do it tomorrow".

TODAY is the day.

Like two mirrors facing each other, this moment will be projected into infinity... and the character that you build today, will be reflected tomorrow.

Let's get to work.

It's 'Accomplish Stuff Month'.

I hope you are with me.

P.S.

To elaborate further on my personal path, I chose:

1) Fix my posture

2) Get my abs back

3) Be a better Dad

To fix my posture:

I started rolling up a towel, and stuffing it under my neck for a half hour before I go to bed, in an effort to restore my neck's natural curvature.

At first, it was uncomfortable. Now, I'm actually sleeping on the towel... and my neck feels fantastic.

Previously, I had to exert some effort in order to pull my chin back, and remove the 'hangman's slouch'. That no longer takes effort. If pay attention, my head can just sit where it belongs.

To restore my abs:

...I committed to 40 minutes of light cardio every day before eating.

That's it.

I wake up, I do the cardio, my day proceeds.

After doing cardio, I also eat better throughout the day instinctively... because if I'm going to take the time to exercise, I'm not going to ruin it by eating one stupid corn muffin and tossing 40 minutes of progress.

Exercise is a triple edged sword.

To be a better dad:

Just put the phone away.

Checking the email, trolling Reddit, looking at sales figures, or perusing social media are all distractions that pull you away from building your relationships.

Beyond that, your kids think it's normal to stare at little screens when they watch you do it.

Just put away the stupid phone.

Everyone around you will be glad that you did.

I hope this email has provided you some additional motivation.

Let's get stuff done.
