Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou

Can you spot the 'punching disease'?

  • From an old guys perspective, and therefore limited endurance, I need to make every strike effective, and the best way to do that is to have bad bad intentions propelling it. His jabs look like he is gauging distance rather than trying to damage. Seen this in a lot of “friendly sparing with control”, that becomes habitual punch pulling, and leads to practitioners pulling punches in real altercations, and losing to a strike, or combination of strikes thrown with authority.

  • Ngannou leaves his head straight up and wide open, (not at an angle) and unprotected when throwing his punch leaving him wide open to get clocked, which he does. Is this the disease you were looking for?

  • Looks to me like he is keeping not only his head but his entire upper torso more or less stationary, and instead of slipping the shot he flinches.
