You’re right, it’s a terrible ‘sentence’. Terrible for Neely. Too bad Neely didn’t get some help and people have come to tolerate this madness. But he sadly wound up meeting his fate because the idiots in charge think it’s more ‘compassionate’ to let people like this harass and attack people instead of putting them in facilities. I don’t see any evidence that Penny was out looking to kill random people on the subway. He was put in a bad situation and acted with good intention to subdue Neely and protect people. Maybe he held the choke a bit too long (but when I watched the entire video, it didn’t seem that way as it wasn’t that tight for the entire time and Neely was struggling for much of it so he obviously wasn’t out). It’s still hard to believe that he died from the choke alone. Did he have drugs in his system? Health problems? Either way, Penny gets the benefit of the doubt because he was doing his civic duty and protecting people. If Penny held the choke a little too long bc his adrenaline was pumping in a real world situation, it’s sad, but he shouldn’t have charges. Again, Neely broke an old woman’s eye socket. Where is the outrage and sympathy for her? This wasn’t even mentioned by mainstream media. This dude broke an old woman’s facial bones. He was a menace. And he met his fate and is in God’s Hands now to deal with as He sees fit.

Obviously no one cared about Neely every day when they rode the train or walked by him on the street acting crazy and aggressive. Many of the Reddits showed that he had gotten increasingly aggressive over time. Nothing was done about it. Penny was put in a situation where he was forced to act and did so as a Good Samaritan. If you punish people for this, we’re cooked. If you de-incentivize men from stepping up and acting as protectors because some junkie might OD or have a heart attack and then they catch politicized felony charges, then you get what you deserve — which is societal and civilizational collapse.

I lived in Portland, Oregon for 10 years and watched it disintegrate bc of the policies and ‘restorative justice’ and woke thinking that prosecutes decent people and lets insane, the drug-addicted and criminals run free. Now they can’t even get cops to work there. It’s a disaster. Portland went from the most beautiful downtowns I have ever seen into a dystopian hellscape. Murder rate went up 1000%. Chaos. Filth. It’s like a zombie movie. I left 3 years ago.
