Rules...

meant to be broken?

Chael Sonnen once said, "To win fights, find techniques that are against the rules in MMA and do them in the street."

...or something like that.

Rules are meant to protect the fighters from damage, and thus in a 'street' setting, those techniques are probably fantastic for winning quickly.

1.) Punches to the brainstem are diabolical: Tunnel vision, nausea, instant knockout.

2.)  12-6 elbows are insanely effective, and make "The Guard" an extremely effective position for the guy on the bottom.

In today's MMA, that guy usually gets his head bounced off the canvas.

3.) If your opponent is on the ground, KICK HIM IN THE HEAD... or knee him in the head.  How is that even against the rules?

4.) If you're on the ground, create some space and kick your opponent in the head.  You can do it when you're standing, but you can't from the ground... WHAT?!

Do it.

In today's video, you will see some of the finest examples of these rules being broken.... resulting in gruesome knockouts, and instant disqualification.

Now all that said, pressure point strikes are useless.

They're against the rules, but they don't work.  How the heck did that happen?

Nut shots are just pain.  I understand that you need to protect a fighters cojones, and there are plenty of dudes that will drop if you ball-tap them hard enough... but I encourage you to leave a man's reproductive system alone unless it's life or death.

(This wasn't always against the rules in the UFC... mind you).

There are also rules specifically against TIMIDITY.

You are literally not allowed to act like a scared little beach, or the ref can (and will) stop the right.

Today's video also contains some of the most cringeworthy examples of this happening.

It's really quite an amalgamation of the horrible...

There's one guy who's only strategy was to just always leave one knee in contact with the ground... so his opponent wouldn't be allowed to knee or kick him.

The other guy grew really tired of the rule...   o.O

Anyhow, I was immensely entertained by the disqualifications video, and I hope that you will be as well.

ENJOY THE EXTENDED WEEKEND!

Wahoooo!

And a big shout out to our fallen warriors.  I shall pour out some of my margarita for the brave homies.
