I realize that it's Wednesday, but I started writing this email yesterday and already committed to the catchy subject line.
I stumbled across this video a few days ago in which an older guy is getting the crap beat out of him by two different dudes... until he pulls out the ol' self-defense Trump card.
...which is not a card at all.
Cards are not useful in a fight, unless you are Gambit, and apparently Gambit isn't useful enough to be included in superhero movies.
Now any time I see an old dude getting beaten severely by multiple opponents without any context, I feel obligated to root for him... so I chuckled when those two guys had to pick up their crap and scram.
But I couldn't help but think about how easy this would have been, if the guy had followed my simple guidelines for creating space to draw a weapon.
If you learn this method, you will never have a problem with people 'rushing' you, before you have a chance to whip out your goods of devastation... and speaking of whipping out goods of devastation, yes, my fly is open for that entire video.
Now... the video I'm talking about was made for the 'tactical pistol' community to a degree, but you can get the same result by drawing anything that can do physical damage.
It could be a knife, a Tactical Pen, a box cutter, a taser, pepper spray... or anything else that you'd be willing to carry with you consistently.
Perhaps it can be a glowing laser card... with sharp laser edges. It could double as a business card, but Gambit is apparently unemployable.
In short, hand-to-hand self defense is complicated and carrying a weapon is a super easy way to save yourself a lot of really hard work.
Besides... just imagine how dumb this guy would have felt in the afterlife, if he was beaten to death with a gun sitting on his hip... after all of his probable Facebook rage about the 2nd Amendment.
Something something cold dead hands...
I love guns. Don't come at me.
Have a fantastic week.

I’d like to see a reference back to your Tongue Fu video too. I’m a retired lawyer, CCW permit holder in California, and a rusty old black belt. Readers should know that if you draw that gun for real, it’s going to change your life. And if you shoot, you’re probably going to be arrested and certainly going to spend a lot of time and dollars proving you were right. But at least you’ll be alive to do it!
