Wing Chun vs a Boxer with one arm tied behind his back...

Having beaten the Wing Chun vs ‘Real Martial Arts’ debate to death over recent years, I’m hesitant to continue revisiting the topic.

After all, I have buddies that do Wing Chun... and I like those guys.

I also have buddies who ingest massive amounts of hallucinogenic substances. Despite this form of noxious mind alteration, I like those guys too.

All that said, I would never do Wing Chun with my Wing Chun buddies.

Having discussed this issue so many times, I am now obligated to keep you informed on any developments...

Well, some crazy martial arts under-lord in the depths of China’s underground fight scene has recreated the throne room stage from Mortal Kombat 2 and is pitting Wing Chun masters against various other styles.

I presume that it’s Shao Kahn, of course.

The most recent bout I discovered has been described as, “Wing Chun Master vs. Boxer-with-one-arm-tied-behind-his-back”.

Perhaps you can guess how it goes...

But you can click here to watch it all go down!

(I encourage you to watch that video on mute... the narrator is a sort of Wing Chun apologist who blames the inevitable outcome on the boxer’s ability to switch his feet, and change distance... or some such hogwash.)

In truth, the WC guy just throws terrible punches... he has no head movement... his entire game is non-existent.

You can't win a fight if you don’t have the ability to damage your opponent.

Here’s another fight, from the same arena... but this time it’s Wing Chun vs MMA (despite the lack of grappling in the rules.)

The MMA guy obviously isn’t a superstar, but his strikes can at least do enough damage to drop an someone.

The other guy has spent too much time slapping the ol’ wooden dummy.

Again, if you do Wing Chun, I like you man. You’re crazy... but I still like you.

(Just don’t go picking any fights with one-armed dudes until you’re POSITIVE that you can actually throw a punch.)

I don’t want you to end up like Richard Kimble’s wife in “The Fugitive”...

Because I like you.

And speaking of people that I like…

I want to take the bottom of this email to thank my friend, mentor, and teacher Darrell Holland, from Holland’s Long Range Shooting School.

I just got back from his Long Distance Shooting School in Oregon, where he taught me how to protect my home from would-be-assassins… who would now get no closer to my house than 600 yards without ‘leaking hydraulic fluid’… as he puts it.

He’s a brilliant man, an excellent teacher, and a tactical wizard. I watched him shoot a bullet through another bullet hole at 100 yards yesterday. It was freakin’ sweet.

Perhaps more importantly, Darrell has reminded me about the value of being a mentor.

Back before I ever met the man, he sent me ‘The Book of Virtues’ to read to my new-born son Mason... after I announced his arrival.

He was basically a stranger… but he took the time and spent a few dollars to have a positive influence on a young mind.

I can’t think of anything more admirable.

Be a mentor.

Make a difference in someone’s life. It will make you proud, and more people will hang out with you on your deathbed.

And if you’re so inclined, you should really head out to Oregon and learn some long distance shooting. Perhaps your deathbed party will be delayed as a result of the knowledge that you attain.

And if you feel like showing some appreciation for a good dude, toss Darrell a 5 star review on his business page... and continue to recognize good people for their role in your life.

Have a great weekend!
